Queen of the Southern Sea, Nyi Roro Kidul, and Nyi Blorong. Are They the Same Entity?
They often related to the mystical stories from the Southern Coast. The story about the queen who controls the Southern Sea of Indonesia is indeed very well-known, especially among observers of the spiritual field and people who seek instant wealth or known as pesugihan in Indonesian.
The legend of Ratu Pantai Selatan (Queen of the Southern Sea) has been around for hundreds or maybe thousands of years ago. The green color which is believed to be the symbol of the Queen Of The Southern Sea’s Kingdom is also greatly feared by the people of Java who want to visit the beaches that are told to be controlled by the Queen. Many victims were being swept away, drowned or simply disappeared on the shores of the Queen’s territory.
And those victims are mostly wearing green clothes on their disappearing day. Mystical and terrible stories are passed down from generation to generation. Many also testified that they had gain wealth after performing certain rituals to the Southern Queen. Not only the ritual of asking for wealth, but there are also rituals for beauty, glory, love philter, and others.
It is undeniable that the Queen has a special place in the hearts of her loyal followers. This also goes down from generation to generation until now. However, did you know that the Queen Of The Southern Sea, Nyi Roro Kidul and Nyi Blorong are three different people? Yes, they are not the same person but they are related to each other. We are very fortunate for the opportunity to have astral communication with these three phenomenal figures.

First, the Queen herself. Queen Of The Southern Sea, the Javanese Sea ruler who owns many troops. She has an extraordinary beauty and authority. She was accompanied by the two figures we mentioned above. The Queen, with all her authority that encompasses the Java Sea, came and let us ask all matters relating to her for this article.
We also ask what is the difference between the three of them. Then it was told that in fact, the Queen was once a nymph named Dewi Nawang Wulan who came down to Earth with her sisters. A nymph who cannot return because she has violated a law on earth.
From there, she eventually became the ruler of the Southern Sea of Java. The full story of the Queen’s journey from the beginning to becoming the ruler of the southern sea will be reviewed in our future articles.
We then move on to the second character, Nyi Roro Kidul. Kidul which means south also makes people misled into thinking that Nyi Roro Kidul is the Queen herself. It is not true.

Nyi Roro Kidul is one of the commanders in the Queen’s kingdom. She used to be a princess named Princess Kandita, the daughter of a very famous king in the land of Pasundan (Also in Java island). The king’s name is Sri Maharaja Prabu Siliwangi from the kingdom of Pajajaran. Apart from being the only daughter of the empress, Princess Kandita was also a princess who was very dear to the King.
This certainly made the King’s concubines, especially those with sons, displeased and planned a vicious plan to get rid of Princess Kandita and her mother the Empress.
Witchcraft was cast on them. What made the princess and her mother suffered was a terrible skin disease such as leprosy. Princess Kandita and her mother’s body produced a very sharp smell and ulcers that never healed from the face down to the whole of their body. With such conditions and after her mother passed away, Princess Kandita was expelled too from the palace as her father in that time has been consumed by the words of his concubines, his other children and also urged by his people.
Princess Kandita, who did not know the direction of her destination, walked for days unnoticed where she was going until she reached the southern coast of Java.
She threw herself into the open sea without a doubt after receiving instructions in her dream one night. Her skin healed instantly because of the treatment by someone who turned out to be Queen Of The Southern Sea. Princess Kandita then offered herself to serve the Queen as her right-hand. She is actually the high-rank Commander of the Southern Sea Kingdom which we usually call Nyi Roro Kidul.
It can be said that Nyi Roro Kidul is the representative of the Queen on the offshore to maintain the balance of nature and the balance of the coast. She is the one who often took humans who happened to be said disappeared or died from going to the beach wearing green clothes. This is solely because she only wants to give a warning and punishment because those humans have committed violations around the coast. Even after being taken, humans are not necessarily tortured like what we always hear from folklore. They were treated well in the Queen’s palace, many been appointed to be the chief commander of the Queen and even some of them were adopted by the Queen.
Then we move on to the next character, Nyi Blorong, who is famous as a beautiful snake demon figure and is also widely worshiped for the pesugihan ritual.

Nyi Blorong is the queen of snakes in a valley along the slopes of the Kemukus mountains (the name of a place in the Java region) and she was very fond of men. Her real name is Dewi Ambarwati or also known as the Dewi Angin-Angin (Goddess of the Winds) because of her movement speed which is as swift as the wind. She also had her own kingdom. She told us, that actually who likes to take the men is herself. Not Nyi Roro Kidul, or the Queen.
When she has still ruled her own kingdom as Dewi Angin-Angin, she was always looking for young men to absorb their purity. It was a ritual to increase her power.
The young men’s youth ness was absorbed by her to increase her power and magic that turned out planned to be used to match the power of Queen Of The South Sea. At the moment she almost reached her last prey, a vision suddenly appeared and advised her to not continue or abandon the ritual. It said, her power will become perfect once she meets and serves Queen Of The Southern Sea.
It was not easy for her to be able to meet Queen Of The Southern Sea. Because that was where her constancy and determination were tested. She encountered many tests and obstacles as soon as she went out of her palace in Mount Kemukus. Those made it difficult for her to meet with Queen Of The Southern Sea. That is until she finally arrived in the kingdom of the Queen.
To her surprise, The Queen also got the same vision. Dewi Angin-Angin was appointed as one of the high-rank commanders of the kingdom with the title Nyi Blorong. Together with Nyi Roro Kidul, she helped the Queen maintaining the balance of the Southern Sea Kingdom.
Many of us might think that this is all a myth, but this story is all based on our exclusive astral communication with the three figures we mentioned above, without being added or exaggerated. All of these stories are true and have happened hundreds of years ago.
